Green Impact Auditor
Green Impact Program - Australasian Campuses Towards Sustainability [ACTS]
Green Impact is an award-winning sustainability program in which teams within Griffith University work together to adopt environmentally and socially sustainable practices. It provides a framework for the teams to promote sustainable HR practices, recycling systems, carbon neutrality, and team health and wellbeing campaigns. Green Impact builds a community within the university around sustainability, encourages participants to improve their sustainability literacy, and supports organisation-wide targets and strategies.
I was a volunteer auditor for the Griffith University Green Impact 2023 program. I successfully completed the required training, which taught me the three interdependent components of the environment, society, and the economy, with a specific emphasis on the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The environmental audit assessed the extent to which the team adopted practices that minimise environmental harm. During this audit, I worked as part of a two-person team. We reviewed the team's evidence and comments submitted to the toolkit, interviewed its members, and submitted a final report.
Being a Green Impact Auditor was an uplifting and motivating experience. Speaking with the team members at Griffith University who were passionate about promoting sustainability was inspiring.
